What is this course about?
Although it sounds very logical and obvious to manage for results, in reality many projects, programmes and organizations focus on ‘doing good things’ and often fail to achieve the longer term vision and or results that they say are important to them. When you focus on results, you focus on doing the right thing at the right time towards achievement of those results. Results-Based Management (RBM) is not a new concept and has been driving corporate strategy for many years. In the last couple of years the concept has gained influence in the development sector. What does Results-Based Management really mean in terms of your day-to-day work, how do you define results, what tools, should you use and what are the consequences for project planning and monitoring? This course will offer you a range of tools and approaches to plan and monitor your projects and programmes focusing on achievement of your desired results at all levels.

Staff of development organisations involved in managing projects, project or programme officers, community development workers and facilitators or consultants who are in need of mastering concepts and tools whilst managing projects.

This course aims to provide you with a set of RBM tools and skills to apply these tools in your day-to-day work. The tools and skills can be used in planning new projects, designing monitoring systems and running projects. The starting point is that all tools are participatory by nature, meaning involving stakeholders, but ultimately focusing on results instead of activities.

The art of writing…

What is this course about?
You have an excellent project idea and now the challenge of gaining access to funding is facing you. Should you respond to a request for services, call for proposals or approach a donor organisation directly? An attractive, convincing and honest proposal will increase your chances manifold! However, to write a good proposal it is essential that you have a good understanding of donors’ needs, formats, writing styles and regulations for reporting. A good understanding on how to turn clients’ needs into a convincing strategy and concrete activities in line with your organisation’s capabilities in a compelling way, is winning half the battle.

Staff members working for NGOs, universities, consultancy firms or government bodies who face the challenge to write winning proposals and accurate reports according to rules and regulations of the client.

At the end of this course you understand the client’s demands, the contents of a tender dossier and guidelines and other donor’s rules and regulations and know how to analyse them. You will have discussed the coordination of the writing process and have received writing tips and styles to complete a successful proposal and report.

Over the past 10 years, Indonesian nonprofits have received more than $130,000,000 in grants from American foundations! This basic introduction seminar is aimed at understanding the market of American foundations, such as the Ford Foundation and the Gates Foundation. There are over 100.000 foundations in the US. Annually, these foundations give billions of dollars to non-American nonprofits. Where do these international grants go? What subject areas are most popular? What are the conditions under which they are given out? And most importantly: how can your nonprofit enter this market successfully? This morning session is provided by Eelco Keij, founder and director of KeyLance Consultancy LLC.
